C’mon Gang! Let’s WIN in Iraq!!

Filed in National by on May 23, 2008

With Memorial day approaching, our local winguts are still talking about “winning” in Iraq as if our debacle is some kind of High School basketball game and we are down by 10 points against Central with 2 minutes on the clock.

If the coach just gives a super great pep talk at the next time out – we can beat these guys!!

Jason, I officially need a score card to keep track of their multiple positions on this thing.

I thought that Mission Accomplished occurred awhile ago.

But since that was after 5 or 6 turned corners, can’t that mean that we’ve won already?

The surge has been working, so does that mean we’ve gotten to Mission Accomplished twice? Or 2.5 times?

Our soldiers are still there and Halliburton is still losing track of our money. It would be awesome if somebody would make the new goalposts making Halliburton accountable for the river of taxpayer funds they can’t find.

The Iraqis are still in no shape to take care of themselves and are at risk of becoming the state equivalent of Welfare Queens. They all probably have the Cadillacs to show for it, anyway.

There is no winning. There is just accommodating the profoundly damaged egos of the 29% who seem to think that BushCo is doing a good job.

It’s deja vu all over again – Gen. Petraeus thinks we might be able to start withdrawing troops by September.

Just wait until the terror alerts start again… I’m betting on late September.

On the subject of Memorial Day, I learned this morning that there is an interactive website for the Vietnam Memorial, http://www.virtualwall.org so I went and checked it out. I found the entry for SSG Lee Scurlock, whose POW/MIA bracelet I have been wearing for the past twenty years. Then I looked up entries for my old unit, and finally I searched by the state of Delaware. That’s when I found this:

Yep, that’s Nancy’s brother. Remember the fallen, and thank a veteran for your freedom.

If John McMurder gets his way we will all get to die for the glory of the Vaterland.

  6. G. Rex, I sure miss Eddie. He went missing near D’nang just shy of his 19th birthday when I was ten. The loss stings terribly to this day.

  7. Brian says:

I miss my friend Mike. And I am terribly concerned about my cousin and uncle. I do not want them in harms way any more. In a war of choice.

    George W. Bush= Bullshit.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Nancy. My thoughts are with you and your family over this holiday weekend. 18? How tragic.

Dear Lord, I just saw the post over at Delaware Politics about how McCain will “win” the war. I think I know now why Burris abandoned his blog: he was simply too embarassed to continue with those meatheads.

Neither the democrats nor the republicans can win the war in Iraq. Bush has screwed it so bad, tell me how any dem or pub is going to get the Shia (fundamentalist) to give up power they havent had in 500 years. Tell me how the Sunnis who will be slaugherted if we pull out too quickly are going to be made part of the government? Tell me how the hornets nest Bush created in the middle east by waging war against a soverign nation, who did nothing to us, posed no threat, while we killed 1.6million and counting innocent Iraqis…how do you win with those odds. Fact is…we don’t! We must get our troops off the streets of Iraq and do what Prof. Khan says, “muslim forces under UN mandate” replace US soldiers! Read Delaware Today Professor Khan is featured. His plan is the plan which makes the most common sense. Petraeus is going to reduce troops just for the election…to take the sting out keeping the surge going, so McMad can show the citizens, see Bush is reducing troops….no one is talking about the Blackwater privatized goon squad which is killing at random with no rules of engagement. We can’t win we need a new plan, its not Biden and it certainly isnt Clinton or McMad.

and by the way, Iran hasnt invaded any nation in hundreds of years…hell yes they are terrified of the US, they live next door to Iraq…they know they are #2 on the US hit list. Wouldnt you want some protection if you were in their shoes? We need diplomacy, we need to let the young Iranians push for democracy…if we invade the young people will go in the other direction. Sabre rattling solves nothing, but bring more angst in the world.

This war is not winable all we have to do is follow the example of Nam leave IRAQ and allow them to sort this thing out themselves and like Nam they will be our trading partners in 10 to 15 years

April 2008 higest month for troops killed in 3 years 18 so far in May 2008 as the Senile Old man would say MY FRIENDS THE SURGE IS WORKING
