The question posed that way would make me say “No”. But if you stated it like: “If you allow the government to make you safer would you accept a larger paycheck?”, then you’ll see the rubes fall in line.

Turn this question on it’s head. “Would you accept a smaller paycheck (i.e. higher taxes) if the government will take care of you (security, socialized medicine)?”

I think we could have both a bigger paycheck and more liberty if we choose to change our foreign policy and allow the peaceful rise of a multi-polar world.
