Dr. Liberal,

I’m freaking out. This Rev. Wright thing has me in a tizzy. The national press is on it wall to wall. They never talk about McCain or Clinton, it is all Obama this and Obama that.
I’m snapping at my kids and at people in the dry cleaners. You’ve got to help me.

Signed,

One Wright Makes a Wrong

Dear One,

I’m prescribing one big chill pill. it sounds like you’ve got a classic case of too much TV. So here is what you want to do.

The next time Tim Russert appears on your TV, quickly turn the TV off. Unplug the TV and put in in your linen closet. Put some blankets over the TV and forget that you have one until November. You are not going to miss anything. [American Idol will be won by the blonde and they are making up “Lost” as they go along and if you have not picked up on that yet you are in sad shape.]

Stop listening to NPR and to WDEL as well. Allan Loudell clearly hates Barack Obama (I’m calling you out Loudell!) so your best bet is to just get in tune with the natural music of the wind rustling in the trees.

You can donate some money to Obama if you want. Other than that there is no way you can have an impact on the votes in Indiana or North Carolina with, so don’t pay any attention to them. Your lunatic ravings in the dry cleaners might seem like they are winning over converts, but they are not.

Obama is still going to win this thing. Sure the national media, the local media (screw you Loudell!) the party hacks, the RNC, and his former pastors are against him. He’s got the delegates. He’ll be the nominee. ….Or not. And the Democratic party will once again get the nomiee that it deserves.

Sincerely,

Dr. Liberal

Ya know, that actually made me feel better. πŸ™‚

The Dr. is in the house.

Prescribe yourself one of those chill-pills, brother J.

I know you don’t like it, but the Rev Wright has made Obama the political news of the hour. Is Allan supposed to ignore the one poll that shows the NC lead down to five points? If he ignored it, then you can say he hates Clinton.

Instead of trying to ignore Wright’s impact and blame the media, make light of Obama’s ‘divorcing’ himself from Wright. How about also making light of Loudell’s noon-hour today where he will discuss that the press-club organizer is a HUGE Clinton supporter! Can you smell the set up he wants to shine a light on? Doesn’t sound like a Obama-hater to me.

Prescription: a gigantic chill pill and one Corona on your deck. Wait, you don’t have that deck yet.

    With Brotherly Affection,

    Dr. Smitty

I missed that report (press club thingy) becuase I stopped listening to Loudell after four consecutive days of Obama bashing form Al “Mr. Objectivity” Loudell.

I get reporting the story of the day, but when all of his interviewees (for fiur days) are pushing the Clinton line – and he goes out of his way to return them to bashing Obama when they stray off-message – I think I get it.

  5. and they are making up β€œLost” as they go along and if you have not picked up on that yet you are in sad shape

WTF? I knew it! What’s up with that freaking monster thing too?

The best thing is that this Wright thing will flame out fast. It will die. He gave the guy a chance, the guy toasted himself as a typical egomaniac like Sharpton…

this happened in the beginning of the week too. time for a new story.

like bush talking about Anwar and gas at $4 a gallon

  6. Rob Foraker says:

Tell your readers to call when Rick Jensen is on air. I believe Rick is open to everyone…

  7. Pandora says:

Actually, Smitty, the media has made Wright the news since March. Instead of Iraq, the economy, and healthcare we get tabloid journalism in regards to only one of the candidates. If pastors are fair game… bring it on – across the board.

Trying to resist the dark side,

    Pandora

  8. RSmitty says:

I agree, Pandora, but that flame was starting to diminish a bit (I think) as old news until this press club event. That’s why I think what Loudell’s tease this morning for his noon show may make it worth a listen – the press club event organizer is a huge HRC supporter. What a better way to fan the dying flames than to bring back the fire starter himself?

Go back to 1981 (I think) with Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry.” The press ain’t crap without it. Like it or not, the reality is that Wright has become Obama’s dirty laundry. FWIW, my personal opinion, I don’t hold this over Obama’s head one bit. It’s opportunism, but…it’s Dirty Laundry….kick ’em when their up, kick ’em when their down…

  9. Pandora says:

I plan on listening… thanks for the heads up.

    Ah… 1981, a very good year.

  10. Stop listening to NPR and to WDEL as well. Allan Loudell clearly hates Barack Obama (I’m calling you out Loudell!) so your best bet is to just get in tune with the natural music of the wind rustling in the trees.

I concur. It has made me think twice about Loudell’s objectivity. We all know that the station is owned by rich local GOPerhead Booker, but Loudell was on The Hazel Plant Community Crossfire on Sunday night alongside of John Watson and Loudell could barely contain his excitement about how sure he was that Obama was going to lose.
It seemed that Loudell’s anecdote about impressions he got when HE VISITED INDIANA IN HIGH SCHOOL carried the day and fixed him in the camp that Obama was done, kaput and would lose these kind of states.

Loudeill’s breathlessly delivered enjoyment with trashing all things Obama are as grating for Delawareans who like the candidate as Clinton fans were finding Keith Olbermann not long ago when he had a constant rant up about Hillary.

  11. Jason330 says:

    I knew it.

Thanks for the second opinion Nancy.

  12. G Rex says:

    What’s a dry cleaner?

  13. RSmitty says:

My God, there are wingnuts and then there are Baracknuts. Can you take two steps away and listen to him on the whole? While he may not necessarily balance it out in a single day, he certainly does over a handful of days.

Should he fabricate things to balance it out in one show? Maybe report on things that will bore us to tears to create balance? I think the problem being hidden here is that he hasn’t subscribed to the rah-rah-Obama train. Here’s something, for us much as you think he’s politically biased against you, there are many R’s who think the same thing.

The dude gets excited over having a guest, any guest. That may seem partial when you segment it away from other events, but when you listen over time, you realize it’s par for the course. The dude loves what he does and it shows in his work. THAT is the reason I choose to listen to his broadcasts, when I can.

You want partiality? Then listen to Watson. He’ll cheerlead you all the way to November.

I will admit that I am a Loudell apologist. He’s the best newsman we have had in ages.

  14. Pandora says:

I just listened to the first half of Loudell’s show…
RSmitty, you made me cry. It was a Hillary lovefest! Absolutely no balance.

I’ll listen to the rest, but somebody (Smitty?) is going to owe me a drink! πŸ™‚

  15. RSmitty says:

    I can’t listen today…on a lunch-time teleconference (booooooo).

Did he discuss the press-club organizer (and that she is a HRC supporter) yet?

  16. Al Mascitti says:

“the station is owned by rich local GOPerhead Booker”

No offense, Nancy, but this is wildly inaccurate. Pete Booker is president of Delmarva Broadcasting, which has owned the station for more than 60 years. It’s owned by the Steinman family in Lancaster, Pa., which also owns the newspapers in that city. Delmarva Broadcasting consists of 11 stations from Salisbury, Md., to Wilmington, of which WSTW(FM)is the largest.

Pete has a nice house, but it’s no mansion, and he’s not “rich.” And he’s far more devoted to the Rotary Club than any political party.

  17. Pandora says:

    Smitty,

He mentioned it and then he and his guest dismissed it… approx. 10 sec. total time. They then went on to discuss how ‘wonderful’ Clinton’s campaign strategy is when it comes to the gas tax.

You so owe me a drink. Listening to that crap was downright painful!!

  18. RSmitty says:

Well, I didn’t listen so I can’t say much then. I can “apologize” (that’s what we apologists indirectly do) and state with conviction that I listened to him waaaaaaay back to his early WILM days and he does come around and balance it out. It’s not on the quick as many people would like, but it happens.

It’s as simple as going with the hot hand. Again, with news, it’s all “…give us dirty laundry…” Unfortunately for Barack, it seriously (and I am not trying to be snarky one bit) appears that Wright now has a major chip on his shoulder and will keep him in the news.

  19. Jason330 says:

Your minority view is voted down Mr. Smitty.

There is a lot of testimony here to the effect that Allan Loudell loves Clinton and hates Barack Obama. So it was not just me and my biased ears.

Your weak defense is that he has not gotten to the Clinton hating stuff yet. Please.

  20. ooops, my bad on ownership, Al. I should have stuck to Greenville GOPerhead Booker. Now, don’t say is isn’t a rich chateau GOPey or you’ll blow my self confidence.
He has held leadership positions on all the right boards alongside powerful corp types.

I googled Pete and came up with this zinger:

    http://delawareliberal.blogspot.com/2006/10/piss-off-fulchsen-vote-for-beau-biden.html

I am sure he is a good guy, Al, sheesh being your boss and all you should know.

  21. WDEL’s overpaid legislators story neglected to name the two by name (and they were both GOPers) while the WNJ did name them and today I had to chuckle when they cited Governor Dale Wolff. It is not incorrect but it is extremely silly since he was only in that seat for three weeks (December 31, 1992 – January 19, 1993). Get offa that cloud WDEL. You are GOPer shills and you like it!
I caught Jensen for a half hour while driving this afternoon and he was talking to himself about how great the GOP economy was. And, GROSS, I had to turn off Al Mascitti this morning when he and his friend started sniffing young girls underwear again (at least that is the image they give off when they dwell what they call cultural topics but it is more like the dirty old man fantasy hour).

    Better luck tomorrow.

  22. kavips says:

When is the next “fantasy hour” again?

Nancy: I heard Jensen as well. I think Jensen was just trying to get the phone to ring….. Sometime you have to dig a little to get noticed, especially on “hump” day.

  23. Al Mascitti says:

Nancy: He lives in Hockessin, not Greenville.
