Once the Republican Media Complex (RMC) gets done with McCain he’ll be the second coming of St. Ronnie. There will be no third party impact on the Republican nominee.

Perot had an impact on Dole, but that was when the RMC was in its infancy.

In PA, McCain left 25% of the R primary vote on the table to Paul and Huckabee.

I’d expect that Paul could not run as a 3rd Party candidate without giving up his Congressional seat — voluntarily or at the next election — and I think he is quite comfortable with his contrarian gig within the party.

  3. Pandora says:

I think the bigger impact will be that of the republicans who chose to sit this election out. They won’t vote against McCain, but they won’t vote for him.

    It has already begun.

Ya gotta love the bamboozling over the capital gains tax tho. That was a quite wrong — but nice touch.

  6. anon says:

The “bamboozling” is the assertion, unquestioned by the media, that suspending the gas tax would actually lower prices at the pump. Not to mention the loss of highway revenue.

  7. G Rex says:

I think you mean to say he’d be Ross Perot, who helped elect Bill Clinton?

  8. Dana says:

Wouldn’t such a question imply that you believe that John McCain would have a significant plurality over the Democratic nominee except for a substantial third party siphoning away of votes by Dr Paul?
