Question: is it significant that the tree says “Less-educated counties” instead of “counties where people have less access to education”
It’s interesting because otherwise it seems that the diagram is saying that only counties filled with dumb poor people vote for Hillary, with the implicit implication that if they knew better they’d vote for Obama.
If you look at the question in the decision-tree, it seems pretty clear that they are using the acquisition of a High School diploma as their standard for “educated”.
If the HS graduation rate is <78%, they classify that as a county with less educated voters. If the HS graduation rate is greater than that, they classify that as a county with more educated voters. And then they raise the graduation rate and ask the questions again. What am I missing here?
