Joe Biden is getting rave reviews for “his strong statement” that Congressional PERMISSION is needed to make any long-term commitment to Iraq. There were even cheers in the hearing room. And Spencer Ackerman’s description of Biden’s total obliteration of Bush Iraq policy is being widely covered.
“Crocker, in an impossible political position — give the correct answer and humiliate the Bush administration; give the administration’s answer and look like a fool — dodged as much as he could. Then Biden forced him down. Crocker: “I would therefore pick Al Qaeda on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.”
To all of this hoopla I say, “Good for you Joe.” Then I add, “Too bad you were a gutless loser when it counted.”
I have always said that if Biden had just stood up on the floor of the Senate and said “No!” to Bush’s idiotic plans to invade Iraq, he would have been carried into the White House in a sedan chair.
And I have always been right about that.

For all the Democrats being bashed around here, you’d think this site was run by Republicans.

Biden: “As an Eagles fan, when the Cowboys play the Giants, who would you want to lose?”
Crocker: “Um, I guess I’d want the Giants to lose.”
Biden: “Hah! I knew you were a Cowboys fan!”

That is weak G
There was a correct answer to the question Biden asked and it is a question the Bush people should have been asked a long time ago.

G Rex makes a good point but Biden is still a gutless loser. Along with all the other Senate Dems.

No. Sorry. You are mistaken. G does not make a good point.
But Biden is still a gutless loser. Along with all the other Senate Dems.

Both parties, most of the congress are heavily invested in the war machine…are you asking them to cut off their pinky finger to satisfy the people!
Why isnt anyone mentioning the true fool Leiberman, leading Crocker into making the statement “that Iran is involved”, couldnt be further from the truth. It was Iran that got Sadr to a cease fire. There are two factions of Shia, one of them is Maliki’s, the other is Sadr a rock star in Iraq. Fallon on Odom say there are less than 2% of AlCiaeda in Iraq, the “insurgents” are the Iraqi people themselves, fighting to get the US the hell out before we steal (contractally) the rest of their “unexplored” oil.

Gutless? no. Cautious. The ‘committment’ issue at hand was covered very well by Clinton at the hearings the other day. The Iraqis will be able to vote for whether Bush can make a binding agreement with them but Bush doesn’t want congress to weigh in on what amounts to a treaty with another nation and that is….unconstitutional.
