Get Well Soon, Sen. McCain

April 4th, 2008 by liberalgeek · 26 Comments

There is an interesting story over at The Carpetbagger Report. McCain’s campaign has been promising to release his medical records for months, but the date keeps getting pushed back. First it was March, then they pushed it to April, now it’s May. Running as the Oldest President in History© it would seem like his health is an important issue. It can’t be a good sign that Mitt’s mouth is watering.

Maybe someone should tell Senator McCain that he does not have to submit any data for any time period before written medical records existed.

Very interesting, since the last Democratic nominee vowed to release his military records and still has not done so.

perhaps he is afraid his PTSD would be revealed?

  • 4 liberalgeek // Apr 4, 2008 at 3:18 pm

No, Liz. He was very happy to distribute the records in 2000. If the hold-up were PTSD we would probably already know.

And Dave, when Bush can account for his days in the Alabama National Guard’s champagne wing, come back with your noise.

Kerry certainly did produce (or had the DOD produce) his records. What you are are recalling is that the AP had to sue to get BushCo’s records — released piecemeal to exhaust the reporters looking for them — and those records don’t absolve him of being AWOL.

    Cassandra -

It takes months and months to get medical records from Pangea.

  • 7 cassandra_m // Apr 4, 2008 at 3:50 pm

    Well that explains it!

Why can’t some republicans, - and I say some because I know some very interesting Repubs who don’t revert to the “look what the other guy did” argument - stick to the message at hand. Honestly, listening to Some of them is like listening to my kids.

Me: “Why did you do that?”
Son: ” Sister did that the other day.”
Me: “We weren’t discussing your sister.”
Son: “Why are you always picking on me?!?”

Note: Please insert daughter tag for son 2 hours - sometimes 2 minutes- later.

    The question was about McCain.

If you got nothing else, you fight the last war again. I am surprised that Dave went all “Swift Boat” so quickly. His nerves must be frayed with all of his comrades falling to the way-side.

    but..but ..but John Kerry!

  • 11 Pandora // Apr 4, 2008 at 5:40 pm

    No… no… no…. John McCain!

    Via Eschaton:

“Asked who was best suited to join McCain on the Republican ticket, Boehner said the running mate must be younger than McCain”…

    HA!!

    A commenter adds…

    John McThuselah

    HA!

  • 15 anon // Apr 4, 2008 at 7:50 pm

Frighteningly, Fred Thompson is actually younger than McCain.

  • 16 liz allen // Apr 4, 2008 at 7:57 pm

It’t won’t be Mitt! The evangelicals have decided.

  • 17 jason330 // Apr 4, 2008 at 7:58 pm

    The onion profile of McCain:

    Thoughts On Torture:
Doesn’t support stuff he couldn’t handle

    Awards:
Distinguished Flying Cross (Vietnam War); Silver Star (World War II); Bronze Star (Crimean War)

    Saturday Night Live Appearance:
    Solid

Where He’d Be If Not Running For President:
    Dead

    Inspiring Example:
Co-sponsored a campaign finance act with Democrat Russ Feingold, the aim of which is to leave every campaigner as broke as McCain and Feingold

GEEK. a Pow camp in Vietnam for 5 years…and no PTSD. Oh my, roll out the red carpet, we have a ole saint! Or consult your local VA psychiarist for qualifiers.

“If you got nothing else, you fight the last war again. I am surprised that Dave went all “Swift Boat” so quickly. His nerves must be frayed with all of his comrades falling to the way-side.”

What else can the Repubs do? They’ve got a guy who wants to keep us in Iraq for 100 years, who wants to attack Iraq, who admits he doesn’t understand the economy while we are in a recession, who’s got lobbyists out the keester working on his campaign, who’s twice been treated for a deadly form of cancer and is as old as the hills, and who just told millions of Americans whose homes have been foreclosed or will be in the few months to eat shit and die.

They have to run against John Kerry by invoking information about him that turned out to be a pack of lies in any case. They have nothing to offer the American people except more war mongering.

Liz, I think you missed my point. He released a ton of data in 2000. If he had long-lingering PTSD, apparently it wasn’t in that particular document dump, so no reason to think that it would be in this one.

No, a much more likely scenario, if there is anything at all, is that there is something in his health that developed in the last few years. My suspicion is that after the torture vote they noticed that he had no backbone.

McCain’s health will be less of a concern than
    Obama’s inexperience.

If most of his health record deals with his physical war injuries, no sweat.

    Lincoln was inexperienced too……just saying.

  • 23 Another Mike // Apr 5, 2008 at 12:14 am

    Mike,

When you are running against Carney or Markell, how will you deal with your inexperience? I think you have some solid ideas, but what will you tell voters who are reluctant to cast their lot with a guy who’s never held public office?

  • 24 X Stryker // Apr 5, 2008 at 1:08 am

    Burn!

  • 25 Pandora // Apr 5, 2008 at 8:01 am

    Ouch!

  • 26 liberalgeek // Apr 5, 2008 at 8:52 am

Mike will just hang his hat on the fact that he has throngs of supporters at his appearances. Mostly parades.
