Easter Dinner: Turkey or Ham?

Filed in Uncategorized by on March 23, 2008

Sure, it isn’t healthcare or the war, but which is your preference for Easter dinner?  I picked up a smoked ham from Durhams BBQ (Fletchwood and Elkton Roads) last night.  I cannot describe how good a nice freshly smoked ham is.

Happy Easter, from DelawareLiberal.Net.

Lamb — butterflied leg cooked on the charcoal grill. Because Easter is the traditional start of grilling season, right?

  2. Joe M says:

My family and guests will be having ham. I will be having a cold plate of leftovers covered by plastic wrap when I finally get home from work.

  3. Brian says:

Beer. What is a holiday until the uncle drops of the sofa from intoxication?

  4. Rebecca says:

Both, because we got the turkey for free!

  5. I’m with Al. The start of spring leaves only one option: Juicy, young, tasty lamb.

  6. cassandra_m says:

I’m with Al too — when I’m cooking dinner Easter dinner is leg of lamb and spring veggies. Tonite, tho, it’s ham since I’m the guest this round.

  7. My family hates ham and usually opts for turkey, but I find most people don’t know how to properly cook a turkey and it always comes out way too dry, which is why I’m partial to a nice, juicy ham. With a tasty fruit-and-mustard glaze, you can’t for wrong with a good ham.

Last year we did a smoked ham and a smoked turkey breast. It was great.

I’m hoping for a smoker for my birthday this week. I’m going to have to try the grilled lamb, though…

  9. cassandra_m says:

The best method ever for cooking turkey is on the grill, IMNSHO. Collect the drippings while cooking and you can make an unbelievable gravy. I can’t remember the last time I cooked a turkey in the oven…

If you get that smoker, LG, you need to have Drinking Liberally at your house….

  10. Maria Evans says:

I’m making osso buco on top of mashed potatoes. I’m tired of cooking and eating turkey, lamb and ham.

  11. Rebecca says:

    Happy Birthday Geek!

  12. TommyWonk says:

My Easter dinner, a mid-day meal, was carrots, peanut butter, pumpkin seeds, Ak Mak crackers and pumpkin bread on a campsite in Cape Henlopen State Park. You couldn’t ask for better.

  13. Miss Profe says:

My Dear Mother and I prepared Easter dinner together. I made a roast loin of pork and roasted potatoes. DM prepared Brussels sprouts, and sweet potato pie. It was a delicious meal. My Dear Father and Dear Brother enjoyed it, too.

  14. donviti says:

ham, turkey or Ravioli’s? that is the better question!

  15. dorian gray says:

DV, you are the biggest bogus Italian I know. Ravioli’s?? Ravioli is already plural, in Italian. The singular I guess would be Raviolo – but I don’t think the singular is ever used. Who ever ate just one? You are out of the club paisiano.

    People still celebrate Easter?

  16. donviti says:

Ok DG don’t hate the player, hate the game bro.

I think 14 years of Sunday dinners with my grandparents that were right off the boat qualifies me. Poppop after he fought for Italy in WWI fyi…

Watching Mommom and her 7 daughter in laws 2 times a year make 20 dozen RAVIOLIS in the kitchen of her house on Linden and Union also do too.

My Uncle Bruno owning Del Campo bakery for 2 hours after he won it in a Poker game also might too.

But go ahead, try and make yourself feel better while you put me down I don’t mind. I find it amusing. I realize you might be reeling from your UEFA loss and need someone to vent on.

I apologize if my grandparent’s BROKEN English wasn’t as propper as yours were.

  17. G Rex says:

Turkey or ham? Both – we’re pro choice.

How amazing was the ham from Durham’s? I love their sandwiches, but I’ve never ordered a full meal from them.

  18. liberalgeek says:

G- It is awesome. I ordered enough to have sandwiches for a month… If you are local, I can save you a few slices…

  19. donviti says:

you should mail him them G
