Karen Peterson: Bluewater Wind Project Is Dead

Filed in National by on March 7, 2008

“Dead”

That’s Senator Karen Peterson’s assessment which was buried all the way down at the bottom of today’s front page story about Harris McDowell’s ongoing criminal conspiracy to promote the narrow interest of his client (Delmarva Power) by:

1) Setting up sham hearings to stall the process, and

2) misappropriating $35,000 (of our tax money) to hire a lawyer to interrogate Arnetta McRae thereby putting the PSC “on trial.”

It seems, at least as far as Peterson is concerned, that McDowell’s efforts combined with a determined misinformation campaign that has been waged by Delmarva Power are bearing fruit and McDowell, Copeland and DeLuca acting as agents for their client will apparently have the last word.

  8. Why wait for the BWW proposal? Bring renewable enrgy to every farm, home and business.

We offered this proposal at Flexera Inc. in Millsboro this week.

    Proposals

    1. Redirect a portion (min 5%) of the state share of real estate transfer tax to homebuyers to use towards the purchase of renewable energy technology for homes, farms and businesses.

    2. Allow the use of the redirected transfer tax and the money within the Green energy fund at the same time to make the purchase of this valuable technology more economically viable.

    3. Make the cost (up to $200) of a certified energy audit tax deductible for all property owners.

    4. Allow the purchase of smaller energy savings devices (like the combination ceiling fan/heater or LEDs units) to qualify as a tax deduction for those who do not desire to purchase a larger system.

    5. Provide home builders with tax incentives/impact fee reductions to construct homes consistent with “Green” Home building standards according to the National Association for Homebuilders/Green Energy Standards or the Energy Star standards.

    6. Provide a “stretched out” repayment period (joint state/SEU and utility) for dollars spent on renewable energy home systems. This incentive would cover the initial outlay amounts not covered by the Green Energy Fund or any other credits/deductions.

    7. Provide existing homeowners with rebates for upgrading major plant systems like air conditioners and heating systems based on SEER or AFUE increases. Also, provide 20% rebates to homeowners who upgrade major appliances like ranges or refrigerators if they purchase Energy Star Label Products and donate the pre-existing appliances for redistribution to needy households.

    8. Redirect the Delaware Office of Economic Development to pro-actively encourage sustainable energy and environmental technology firms to locate in the First State in order to protect our environment and advance our prosperity with cutting-edge research and applications.

Accordingly, I pledge myself to achieving our plan as your next Governor and call upon all Delawareans of talent and integrity to
Work with me for a better Delaware.

I knew it, Mike’s a tax and spend liberal!

But seriously, why stop there? What about government buildings? Every time I drive by Newark High School I wonder why there are no solar panels on that big, flat expanse of roof. Put that mandate into a school district referendum and I bet it would pass easily.

Who says its over! Who wants to throw in the towel! Hell no! Don’t give up on this citizen initiative! Thats what they always wanted, they think our attention span is about 3 minutes! Giving up is giving in…hell no!

Rumor has it that McDowell uses “state funds to take trips for his private business interests”!
Got it on good source, this is why we need an Ethics Committee hearing on this joker!

Make McDowell prove “where he really lives”, where are his “business meetings” and determine what he did on those trips, on state financed money? This guy thinks he is safe from public scrutiny.

And we the citizens should absolutely refuse to pay for his trickster lawyer from DC, let him pay! What does he do with his “street fund money”. More questions than answers!

It is up to us to keep Wind Power at the top of our agenda! its not over till the fat lady sings.

Call for Ethics Committee hearings on McDowell, Deluca and Copeland! How much stock do they have?

there already is a pool of money available for help with homeowner purchase of renewable technology/appliances through the SEU. Why is there some need to have either or?

One thing most people agree on is that we do not want to spend billions on adding nuclear power plants to the grid. The nuke business and the coal burning business are behind the fed’s interest in the new PEPCO grid bolstering and they are fronting all kinds of money for those horribly filthy/unsafe industries.
