Feature Preview: New Liveblogging Application

Filed in Uncategorized by on February 24, 2008

I have been doing some research into some really whiz-bang chat applications, but I haven’t been particularly impressed with any of them. I have found one that needs some work, but I think will serve our needs. However, I need you to test it out. Let me know if you have any issues with it and if so what they are. We may not get to really try this thing out until the next liveblogging event on March 4th, but that gives me some time to test out a few ideas. Try it out.

Update:  OK, after a particularly awful chat with RSmitty (he wasn’t the awful part) I scrapped the damn chat application that I had.  I have replaced it with an industrial strength chat.  Same link.  Try it and let me know what you think.

I tired it real quick, nothing that I entered showed up in the room after hitting return, the character count stayed at zero, and this was for text and emoticons. However, I was able to change skins and read the archive …

Maybe it knows I’m not a liberal.

LG will figure out how to let non-liberals in.

This is going to be cool. We’ll be the livebogging HQ whenever some political shit is happening.

  3. nemski says:

LG, works well. As far as a test goes, why not the Feb 27th debate, which Obama might duck out of.

  4. Rebecca says:

That was so much fun I’m sitting here wanting to go test again, but I won’t .

  5. cassandra m says:

Fantastic job, LB, seriously. Any way to make the text size of the chat show up bigger (for those of us who don’t wear our glasses at the computer…) Can’t wait for the next live blog event!

  6. liberalgeek says:

OK, the text is larger now and I have cleaned up some of the minor style issues. Let me know what you think…

  7. Rebecca says:

This is going to be fun!

  8. Pandora says:

That was great! I loved the sound effects!

  9. cassandra m says:

That is even nicer and I can see it much better. Perhaps it needs a button that allows you to Logout and Return to DELib the Blog, but just opening a new tab or something would not be so hard. Thanks!

  10. liberalgeek says:

Yeah, that is on my list of things to do… In typical geek style, I was going to worry about that later… 🙂

  11. liberalgeek says:

OK, logout takes you back to delawareliberal.net.

  12. R Smitty says:

Left you some comments there, but this recent one is much, much better. I like the exit (logout), too.

  13. jason330 says:

Are we going to test drive this thing 2 nite?

  14. nemski says:

I’ll be there hoping to see a scene from Scanners.
