Reason was considered rebellion, and the slavery of fear made man afriad to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth is that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing. In such a situation man becomes what he ought to be. – Thomas Pain 1791

Just arrived at the Clinton party at Grottos. Big cheer when she won Oklahoma.

  2. jason330 says:

Oklahoma and Arkansas she won big. I think they might have to savor those.

  3. jason330 says:

Geek – are you are rock star there?

  4. liberalgeek says:

No, they aren’t hardly looking at me. The Hillary people are grouped around the TV with the press (inc. me) in the back.

  5. Benjamin says:

New results from DE (estimates but extrapolated and yada yada this time)
    o: 46.6

As for Delaware results, I wouldn’t expect much more than a few districts to report in before 9:00.

  7. Benjamin says:

  15. nemski says:

I’d like to know the names of the 16 Democrats who voted for Biden. They need a good beat down.

  16. jason330 says:

1% reporting. I forgot to add that. No doubt a big cheer at Grotto’s

  17. Benjamin says:

Forgive my ignorance but can DE voters vote by absentee ?

  18. liberalgeek says:

It’s like a terrarium. a lot of press looking at a few Clinton people.

  19. nemski says:

    From the NYT:

On Second Thought … NBC has retracted its call on Mrs. Clinton in Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Fox has called Tennessee for Mrs. Clinton. And Associated Press is calling Obama in his home state of Illinois.

  20. Delaware Dem says:

Why are they listing the results as if the Democrats and Republicans participated in the SAME primary.

The results should be Clinton 52%, Obama 38% based on those 3 precincts.

  21. jason330 says:

    Good point. WTF?

    We have idiots running things.

  22. cassandra m says:

    @Benjamin
They can vote absentee which is what I did since I was not going to be able to go to the polls today….

  23. jason330 says:

Clinton down to 51% w/5% reporting.

  24. nemski says:

okay, i’ll give a pass on the votes for edwards, biden and dk based on absentee

  25. cassandra m says:

NPR is going on about how the African American endorsements did not work for Hillary in Georgia. Frankly, I wonder how much these endorsements mean anymore beyond the media narrative…

  26. Delaware Dem says:

    With 16% reporting…

    Clinton 48%
    Obama 46%

I have to do the math myself. Thanks NJ and Commissioner of Elections for your idiotic reporting.

  27. jason330 says:

15% reporting 51% for Obama now

  28. jason330 says:

Delaware Dem is right. My math sucks.

  31. nemski says:

has obama turned the corner in DE?

  32. Delaware Dem says:

The previous results were 16 precincts, not 16%.

    Obama 49%
    Clinton 44%

  33. jason330 says:

    LOL! Let them have it./

  34. donviti says:

  35. Delaware Dem says:

    McCain wins Delaware–MSNBC

  36. cassandra m says:

    MSNBC called Delaware for McCain…..

  37. jason330 says:

Huck is going to spoil Romney in DE too.

  38. TommyWonk says:

Obama is leading in Wilmington and NCC so far, which is where Democratic primaries are won…

  39. Delaware Dem says:

It depends on how close it is in NCC, and the Biden factor. Biden could spoil this for Obama.

  40. jason330 says:

    27% in Obama at 50%

  41. jason330 says:

absentee is close. That is a good thing.

  42. Delaware Dem says:

    With 27% reporting…

    Obama 50.02%
    Clinton 44.70%

  43. nemski says:

    The NYT has 12% reporting, O-51, C-44.

  44. Delaware Dem says:

If this margin continues to grow by 40%, I will call it for Obama.

  45. Delaware Dem says:

    nemski…

I am using the DE SOS Election site numbers and doing the math myself.

  46. R Smitty says:

Glad to see that I’m not the only one who noticed the DOElections doesn’t know the difference between a D and a R in the results. Oy!

  47. Delaware Dem says:

LOL….the News Journal is now using my numbers.

    I beat the NJ tonight.

  48. nemski says:

  53. jason330 says:

I just got interviewed by WDEL. I hope I didn;t sound like an ass.

  54. donviti says:

I was just chatting it up with Dianna McWilliams. She is a really down to earth woman.

She brought two of her boys with her too.

I’m not sure what a campaign event is supposed to be like but I’m hoping the strippers get here soon.

  55. jason330 says:

    I get C 45% O 49% w 41% reporting

  56. Delaware Dem says:

    With 54% reporting

  60. R Smitty says:

Stop hoping Jason, you always sound like an a

  61. R Smitty says:

Hey, why did my comment cut off? 🙂

  62. jason330 says:

    DD I’m done. I don;t do math after 9:00 –

    Keep the numbers coming,

  63. Delaware Dem says:

I will be making a call in the next update.

    🙂

  64. jason330 says:

    What got cut off?

  65. liberalgeek says:

Video of one of the attendees is coming up.

  69. Delaware Dem says:

Can’t call it yet. Clinton gained ground.

  70. R Smitty says:

    That was a joke, J

  71. R Smitty says:

In case you are curious, here is the other side of the fence:
    200 of 313 reporting:
    43.76% McCain
    32.97% Mitt
    16.69% Shuckster
    3.8% Beetlebum
    2.8% Others

  72. cassandra m says:

    Who is Beetlebum?

  73. jason330 says:

I’m freaking. No time to laugh. Must refresh DOE site.

    Refresh

    refresh

    refresh

  74. R Smitty says:

Those numbers have been very close to consistent since 138 districts were reporting. It’s all but done. MSNBC was correct. Somebody, please look after Dave.

  75. R Smitty says:

Beetlebum…story I remember from elementary school about a rag of a race horse (also disrespected) being mercilessly crushed, only to win it at the end. No, I don’t think Paul will win it, but I do think he’s a tired, disrespected horse.

  76. jason330 says:

Kerry won this with under 20,000. Now Obama has 37,000 to Clintons 33,000.

    Unreal./

  77. jason330 says:

NBC just called DE for Obama

  78. cassandra m says:

    Woo Hoo!

  79. jason330 says:

I voted for someone who won something !!!!

  80. R Smitty says:

OK, how is it the COE can’t differentiate between D’s and R’s on the totals, but they can tell us the turnout between D’s and R’s? Lazy bastards.

BTW, current turnout numbers are at 29% D and 24% R. That’s kickass for this state in a Prez Primary. Good job, Delaware!

  81. liberalgeek says:

Video added to the video page (see the Video link at the top of the page).

  82. ABC calls DE for Obama

  83. Brian says:

    Hey congrats guys!

  84. nemski says:

NYT won’t call MA for Clinton

  85. Mommychicky says:

CNN just called DE for Obama… Let’s just call the 2152 machine votes for Biden the result of people not reading the newspaper…

  86. jason330 says:

    Awesome video.

  87. jason330 says:

    Obama picking up steam.

the media narrative: Clinton has old ladies and latinos, Obama is getting everyone else.

  88. R Smitty says:

Voter turnout gets even more impressive for Delaware at 268 districts now reporting….
    Democratic Voter Turnout = 32 %
    Republican Voter Turnout = 25 %

  89. nemski says:

    NJ declares Obama the winner!!!!!

  90. nemski says:

BTW, my son’s 4th grade class went overwhelming for Obama

  91. jason330 says:

Show of hands…Who had the “over” for Biden?

  92. jason330 says:

Chris Mathews is killing McCain which is funny because Mathews is his base.

  93. R Smitty says:

    J – your O/U were Obama: 54%/Biden: 3%/McCain: 52%

    I replied:
    Under on Obama (49%)
    Over on Biden (4%)
Under for McCain (45% – still too many choices to be too dominant)

  94. R Smitty says:

At 268 districts reporting, McCain was sitting at 44.89%. That bastard better stop!!!

  95. jason330 says:

You might have it based on the other two.

  96. R Smitty says:

Crap! At 276 districts reporting, old geezer, I mean McCain just upped to 44.94%! He’s pissing me off!

  97. liz allen says:

Lets hope Obamas win in Delaware means we can, YES WE CAN rid our state of these do nothing politicans who work against wind power, work against the citizens every chance they get….its a new day in Delaware..

  98. jason330 says:

MSNBC – Clinton wins in NJ. BOOO!!!

  99. R Smitty says:

Butt munch McCain just ticked even closer to 45% with 44.99% with 287 districts. This bastard is going to cost me Jason’s prize!

  100. jason330 says:

    MSNBC

    840 delegates needed to “win”

    315 – Obama

    228 – Clinton

  101. Brian says:

BREAKING NEWS JASON: TIME TO CALL SEN. BIDEN AND GIVE HIM SUPPORT…

WASHINGTON – President Bush threatened a veto Tuesday in the debate to update terrorist surveillance laws,

  102. R Smitty says:

    I smell comment rescue there…

  103. nemski says:

    that’s a long post

  104. R Smitty says:

Really, a good sub-story to DE’s primary is the turnout:
    Democratic Voter Turnout = 35 %
    Republican Voter Turnout = 27 %

That is as of 287 districts.

  105. jason330 says:

    Sorry Brian too long.

I’ll post that tomorrow if you want.

  106. Delaware Dem says:

    with 92%

Obama gets to the 10 point margin

    Obama 53%
    Clinton 43%

  107. Delaware Dem says:

So, smitty, you lost on Obama!

  108. R Smitty says:

Yay! At 300 of 313 reporting, McCain has backpedaled, giving him 44.94% of the vote. That prize is mine!

  109. R Smitty says:

What! A conspiracy! Get the paper audits out!

  110. jason330 says:

McCain Ad. “the surge is working.”

    Oy.

  111. jason330 says:

Prize: a box of nails and a nice new hammer.

  112. R Smitty says:

Wait…if you go to hundredths (yes, I’m trying very very hard), he’s at 51.92%. But, remember, Jason is looking at O/U, not my specific prediction. The latter was just fodder.

  113. jason330 says:

That picture they are using for ROmney looks smirky.

  114. R Smitty says:

    What about the plankboards, Jason?

Don’t backpedal on that prize, boy! What is this, your new tax plan?

  115. Rebecca says:

I can’t believe that Democratic turn out is at 37% WOW! I think that’s got to be a record.

  116. nemski says:

The NYT, playing close to its vest all night long, goes with Clinton in MA.

  117. R Smitty says:

I don’t know if you all can get stoked by the overall turnout, but these are pretty damn good for a Prez primary around here (as of 300 districts reporting):
    Democratic Voter Turnout = 37 %
    Republican Voter Turnout = 27 %

  118. R Smitty says:

    Apparently, Rebecca shares my glee.

  119. R Smitty says:

    310 districts reporting on Jason’s O/U:
    52.17 for Obama
2.9 for Biden (you bastard – I want my nails!!!)
44.21 for Ol’ Grandad. He’s tanking!!!

  120. jason330 says:

the real prize is either “Idiots guide to the Middle East” (a 12.95 value)

    or

    Sean Hannity’s book.

  121. R Smitty says:

    312 districts reporting on Jason’s O/U:
    52.37 for Obama
2.9 for Biden (you bastard – I want my nails!!!)
44.21 for Ol’ Grandad. He’s tanking!!!

  122. R Smitty says:

Ouch…well, how about you donate the prize in your own name and we’ll keep that between us. I’ll know that I won.

BTW…crazy stat that I should be ashamed of as a Republican, but it’s really not throwing me…coming up…

  123. R Smitty says:

WITH 312 OF 313 DISTRICTS REPORTING (ED 2 of RD 9 apparently forgot how to make the machine tabulate totals):
    50,963 – Obama
    50,010 – Total Republicans

Yes, that’s right, people. Barack Obama has outpolled the entire state of Delaware Republican votes.

  124. Rebecca says:

OMG, it’s up to 38% turn out in a presidential primary. The Dems are fired up! And, can you believe it, Obama took Kent County? He took the City, NCC and Kent, the old folks in Sussex went for Clinton, which bears out what they are saying on MSNBC about the demographics of the voters.

You are right Smitty — I’m over the moon!

  125. jason330 says:

Donvit is at Joes and said the vibe is crazy party.

Liberalgeek just posted a video of the Clinton Campaign party when the Obama win was announced.

Go to the top of the page and click on the videos tab.

  126. R Smitty says:

I just blasted my own with a quick update on FSP. What throws me isn’t that Obama outpolled the entire Republican vote, it’s that people who didn’t vote will bitch and moan about the results. That’s what pisses me off most.

This truly was a great win for Obama.

FWIW, ED2-RD9 still hasn’t figured out how to total the machine.

  127. jason330 says:

BREAKING: Dave Burris predicts Romney will pack it in.

In an “on the record” interview with Liberal geek, Burris said Romney was probably done.

I have to say that I noticed Dave starting to warm up to McCain a bit over the past couple of weeks.

  128. R Smitty says:

…and I will search my soul.

  129. jason330 says:

BREAKING II: Dave Burris is going to disclose his gubernatorial intentions tomorrow.

    I shit you not.

  130. R Smitty says:

FINALLY! Someone helped ED2-RD9 count with fingers and toes:
    313 districts reporting (100%) on Jason’s O/U:
    52.35 for Obama
2.89 for Biden (you bastard – I want my nails!!!)
45.03 for Ol’ Grandad. He’s done gone and killed my prize! That bastard!

    Turnout:
    Democratic Voter Turnout = 38 %
    Republican Voter Turnout = 28 %
    That’s AWESOME!

and for the final stat that should make DE Republicans look around…coming up!

  131. R Smitty says:

    100% districts tabulated:

    51,124 – Obama
    50,237 – Total Republicans

Yes, that’s right, people. Barack Obama has outpolled the entire state of Delaware Republican votes.

  132. Rebecca says:

I wonder how many of the Obama voters were first-time primary voters?

  133. jason330 says:

It had to be a ton. Clinton probably got a majority of the 20,000 or so that went to Kerry last time.

  134. jason330 says:

Obama is rolling up the midwestern states.

  135. R Smitty says:

J – I thought you would be aglow with the mention that Obama outpolled the entire Republican total. No bite there? My God…I think I am disappointed in you.

  136. Delaware Dem says:

I am aglow. Does that please you? It just proves the total destruction of the GOP in Delaware. Indeed, the local party no longer exists in any meaningful form.

  137. jason330 says:

    Smitty-

Maybe I’m starting to feel a little sorry for you guys.

Bush has totally demolished your party.

  138. jason330 says:

    Woo Hoo !

Obama wins the nut meg state.

  139. R Smitty says:

Does it please me? Not so much in a masochistic way as I seem to be hinting…no, wait…nevermind.

Really, I don’t want implosion. I do, however, have a major chip on my shoulder about the national party and have made it known over time. I’m not a welcome element on the national level. I haven’t literally been disavowed, but my views have been rejected in wholesale via other poor souls who have attempted to rise.

That day will come, but obviously a cleansing and rebirth will have to be first. Until then, I still am listened to locally, and that matters first.

  140. jason330 says:

    Terry McAuliff is a ASS!!

  141. Joe M says:

Well, maybe with Bush leaving, we’ll see a revival of the real GOP. Even though I’m not in line with them, I think he government is stronger with as many strong parties as we can get.

  142. jason330 says:

    Obama leading in Colorado.

  143. Missed you guys at the Obama event. Where are you all tonight?!?!

  144. R Smitty says:

Joe – I agree. People in my “house” were taken back a little when the GOP came into total control of DC, my first comments were, “We’re fucked.” I’d say that of any party with that control. The checks and balances all but evaporate in those conditions. Only few exceptions prevail.

  145. Delaware Dem says:

    Mike–

I am home. I needed close access to three TVs and two computers with no bar noise. Plus, I had my own beer in the fridge.

  146. Joe M says:

    And while I’m dreaming….

Maybe this will be the beginning of an educated citizenship that votes based on knowledge of issues rather than the alphabet. And maybe we’ll get some other parties that are strong enough where”third Party” is a term that will have to be looked up in old encyclopedias….

    Oh, and I’ll be rich.

  147. Delaware Dem says:

    Smitty–

When a party is in control of all three branches, then it gets all the credit and all the blame.

So if things go well, you can take credit.

But things have gone horribly and catastrophically wrong, so it means that the GOP not only gets the blame, but is probably destroyed for a generation as a national party. Much like what happened in 1932.

  148. liberalgeek says:

the place is nuts at the Obama camp…

The vibe is the complete opposite of the morgue that was the Clinton Camp at Grotto’s.

at least 75 people are here partying it up.

  149. liberalgeek says:

    Donviti is on the loose!!!

he is mac’ing it hard with the Obama ladies. I can’t control the guy. He got me an awesome interview though.

the guy is magic to watch operate. Sade said it best.

    Smooth Operator

  150. liberalgeek says:

for the record, he stole my login while interviewing…

  151. Delaware Dem says:

    Joe…

So long as we have a winner take all single member district system of elections…there can never be a viable third party. Indeed, our history shows that third parties who do receive significant support result in the opposite party being elected.

  152. Joe M says:

“for the record, he stole my login while interviewing…”

    hehehe

  153. Joe M says:

13 minutes until Cally polls close.

Man alive, physical therapy is going to be rough tomorrow.

  154. R Smitty says:

DD – Yes, that is true, but in today’s world, I see the temptation of corruption as way too strong for a party in total control, meaning I am not optimistic enough to see much good in it.

That’s why I felt that “We’re fucked” sentiment before it went south into the toilet. There is just way too much low-hanging fruit to see long-lasting good prevail, if ever sprouted.

On a side note, when Cheney was designated Chimpy’s VP-mate in 2000, I also said, “We’re fucked,” then, too. I knew all too well about Cheney and the fact he would be the acting president behind the walls.

  155. liberalgeek says:

Carney is here schmoozing. I think he’s trying to prove that he has an outside game too.

  156. R Smitty says:

Going off of politics for a minute, I just looked at the national weather and on Feb 5th, there is a massive f’ing tornado outbreak in TN, KY, OH, and that area. The early reports are horrible. Unreal. We look to be getting hammered tomorrow (not with EF3 and EF4 crushing our homes, though), too.

I hope no one here has loved ones there, but if you do, my thoughts are with you.

  157. R Smitty says:

    Carney is here schmoozing.
Ask him how he feels about Protack’s moustache and is he willing to give Mike any advice?

  158. liberalgeek says:

Videos are updated. Check ’em out.

  159. Joe M says:

Listening to Hillary’s speech, I don’t think I could stand four years of hearing her scratchy monotone.

  160. Joe M says:

“Ask him how he feels about Protack’s moustache and is he willing to give Mike any advice?”

    I’ve got some:

“Hey asshole, it’s not a bullshit filter.”

  161. R Smitty says:

Has anyone looked over the insanity that is the hatred-center, a.k.a.:delaware online comments? That link is to the primary election thread. Hoo-baby! Get your hate on!

  162. R Smitty says:

    Joe @ # 167: LOL! HA!!!!

  163. jason330 says:

    Hillary…OMG what a phoney.

  164. Joe M says:

She really is unbelievably cocky. Never have I heard such words delivered with that kind of self-satisfied smirk.

  165. liberalgeek says:

    Idaho impressively.

  166. jason330 says:

    Smitty –

I just posted all of your turnout commnets at Daily kos and didn’t give you any credit.

    ‘kay?

oh my oh my oh my….this place is nuts…

one thing of interest is the Obama staffers are being held in check by Chris Lou. I have asked 6 of his people if they wanted to do an interview with Geek and they have all had to ask permission

it smacks of a well run campaign that is controlling the message. I’m not sure how I feel about that in all honesty, but for now since some of the chicks are hot, I’m letting it slide.

but, it seems Hillary esque to me…

Joe please join us upstairs. I can’t take this thread taking so long to load.

ALSO – McCains wife looks like the martian in “mars Attacks” who sneaked into the White House.
