Officials with the campaign confirmed that there were two workers taken hostage in the office on 28 North Main St.. A woman and her baby told workers at a neighboring business that she was released by the hostage-taker.

“A young woman with a 6-month or 8-month-old infant came rushing into the store just in tears, and she said, ‘You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape,'” witness Lettie Tzizik said.

That’s terrible. I lived and worked in Rochester, NH on a Governor’s race and went back to NH for a Presidential primary. Campaign offices are set up so anybody at all can walk in. We’d get some of our best volunteers from people that saw signs in the window and said they wanted to be part of a campaign. But we also got some people who clearly weren’t well. A friend told me one of our visitors in the Concord office actually went to jail later for killing his roommate.

I’m sure the young staffers’ parents are terrified.

It is terrifying. Word is Obama has evacuated his office.

Oh my God. That is terrible. On MSNBC they are saying there are 4 hostages and 3 have been released. I am keeping them in my thoughts… I never knew NH had this kind of crime problem.

Campaign offices, like most things in the world, are set up so anyone can just walk in. This is the kind of stupid stunt that get everyone scared shitless.

While I agree that this is a terrible situation let’s not get our collective panties in a bunch. Perhaps we can all take a deep breath and relax. Let’s wait and see how it turns out. Hopefully no one will be hurt and we can go about our weekend.

Question (with all due respect) – is this situation truly terrifying? If so why?

  5. Brian says:

The guy owns a resturant across the street; and has road flares tied to chest ala MSNBC.

  6. Dana Garrett says:

The problem with it being in a Clinton office is that there is an equal chance the assailant is a Democrat as he is a Republican.

I mentioned this before I think but one of my favorite saying is from an old WWII poster that the queen had hung all around London during the German blitz. It simply said “Remain Calm / Carry On”.

Those Brits went to bed every night with the distinct possibility that 500 lbs of German steel would explode in their kitchen. Yet they didn’t act like a bunch of nincompoops.

Some asshole straps Pringles tubes to his jacket in NH and everyone has a god damn conniption. This is the kind of reaction facilitates Gitmo, torture, Rudy’s entire platform, etc., etc…

  9. Brian Selander says:

I said the parents are terrified. I never said it was terrifying. Most campaign staffers in these regional offices are 18-23.

It’s that darn right-wing talk radio again, I’m sure. Live Free or Die!
