I’m a sucky citizen journalist

I had a long day at work and a headache at 5:00 so I said, “screw it” to myself and blew off the JJ dinner. I’ll have to read about it over at DWA.

  1. You missed…absolutely…nothing. IN short, it was overcrowded, the food was actually pretty tasty, but the speeches were overdone and under-rehearsed. A complete waste of $45 and 4 hours.

I don’t see how anyone outside of the corporate/organized labor elite enjoyed themselves. There weren’t even many celebrities who showed up. Well, the ones who did hid in the VIP room.

  2. Markell did well as usual, as did Denn. I was wondering who was running for President…Carper or Biden. Carper would not shut the hell up. Biden was actually quite good. Muted at times and then worked up. Actually quite invigorating.

It was just a nice night to be a Democrat. BIG crowd turned out to hear Senator Biden and he gave a fine speech. I actually saw some folks wipe away a tear or two as he described his visits to Iraq and what our soldiers are living through over there. That part was tough on both the Senator and the audience. Senator Biden does a great job of telling a story and you could have heard a pin drop as he described being driven to the airport from the Green Zone by “a couple of bad-ass kids” down the seven mile stretch of highway that is under constant attack by IED’s. He wasn’t telling the story to say he was brave, he emphasized that he only had to do it once, but the real heros were the soldiers who had to do it everyday.

It was a good night to see all our young talent on display. There was a table full of the Young Democratic Movement group and another table full of Delaware Young Democrats. Our wonderful staffers. And a bunch of other young people made up a large portion of the crowd. I feel good about the future after seeing all these wonderful young folks tonight. They are an awesome lot.

    Did my Democratic heart good!

When I went to the Lincoln Day Dinner, they turned the comments off.

I’m not a member of the corporate/organized labor elite, but I enjoyed myself. I as interested in talking with folks as I am in listening to speeches.

Having said that, I agree that Denn was funny and Biden was moving.

Can’t we have that piece of road patrolled by a couple of cops from Newport or Elsmere? they will issue tickets to all the terrorists. Especially if it is at the end of the month.

I regret missing Denn. He is reliably great.
