Whistling past the graveyard, FSP keeps a brave face as Romney is exposed

You knew it would come to this. I mean how much more a an effete patrician nincompoop could Flip Romney be? With is Pansy-ass “varmint” hunting and his flipipity flopity. It’s like the “Revenge of John Kerry.”

Honestly, real Republicans were supposed to let this haircut take over the party. I don’t think so.

Meanwhile:

Conservative elder stateman (and paragon of husbandly virtue) Newt Gingrich blast the entire GOP field.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says the 2008 White House candidates are “demeaning the presidency” by focusing on the race rather than ideas. “We have shrunk our political process to this pathetic dance in which people spend an entire year raising money in order to offer nonanswers, so they can memorize what their consultants and focus groups said would work,” Gingrich said.

  1. FSP says:

Thanks for sending people over so we can put the “flip-flop” myth to bed. I really appreciate it.

  2. jason330 says:

Every time you say “flip-flop” myth it grows.

It’s like that Star Trek when Kirk figured out that the green women fed off human fear.

  3. Alan Coffey says:

I guess Newt did not bother to listen to Ron Paul?
    Ron Paul:
    Charisma? None.
    Beauty? None.
Ideas? He has all of them in this race.
    Leadership? TBD…

  4. Duffy says:

For once, I agree with you. Romney is strangling his own run little by little. No real loss there.

Alan is also correct that Ron Paul is short on everything except ideas. Newt is positioning himself for a run, he’s just waiting until things shake out. He doesn’t realize he’s unelectable. Best he can hope for is a cabinet post.

  5. FSP says:

“It’s like that Star Trek when Kirk figured out that the green women fed off human fear.”

Well, she’s eating well right now on this post.

“Romney is strangling his own run little by little. No real loss there.”

Yeah. He’s killing himself by running first in Iowa, New Hampshire and Michigan and by passing John McCain to pull into 2nd in the national polls today. Killing himself.

“Ideas? He has all of them in this race.”

Ron Paul’s not the only one in this race with ideas. Romney’s the guy who came up with a way to cover his entire state with health care without government taking over the sector.

  6. Alan Coffey says:

Yup. Hillary had a plan too.

Hillary, Borat, King Edward, Little Joe… Where are the idea in that group?

I am not happy with either bunch right now and I just hope the process brings forth a leader worthy of our country.

did anyone hear about this NCLB meeting with Castle today down in Sussex?

Congressman Castle to discuss ‘No Child Left Behind’ with parents and teachers
    Tue, 29 May 2007 08:14:36 -0400

    ——————————————————————————–

Congressman Mike Castle will be joined by teachers and parents from New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties later this afternoon and evening at Caesar Rodney High School to host a roundtable discussion on ways to strengthen No Child Left Behind. The reauthorization of No Child Left Behind is quickly approaching, and Castle believes it is vital to listen to and speak with those who are directly affected by this legislation and to hear ideas on how to improve the law and meet the goal of proficiency by the 2013-1024 school year. The discussion will be held from 530 to 7 pm

  8. FSP says:

“Yup. Hillary had a plan too.”

The two plans aren’t even remotely the same.

    Nice try, though.

Romney has already come out and said the solution he put forth in Mass probably won’t work nationwide and that the states should be the idea incubators on health care.

Simple fact is he’s a pioneer and a true leader on one of the biggest issues of the coming era.

  9. Disbief says:

Sweet Jesus, you R’s have Rudy sitting right there. Maybe he’s not a foam-at-the-mouth, hypocritical, right-wing, born-agin’ gay-hatin whacko, but so what he’s not mainstream Republican. He’s not only the best shot you got, but perhaps the best shot for all of us.

Romney? WTF are you thinking FSP? That would be like us cheering over here for Hilary.

  10. FSP says:

    “Maybe he’s not a foam-at-the-mouth, hypocritical, right-wing, born-agin’ gay-hatin whacko,”

    And who is?

“Romney? WTF are you thinking FSP?”

I’m thinking we need a President who has a history of fixing nearly everything he comes across, who’s the smartest person in the field and has a record of taking on big issues and finding solutions.

  11. Alan Coffey says:

    FSP:
So his plan will not work. OK, then what? I agree that the States should be the incubators of innovation, but we need to sort out some basic questions here.

Who has the responsibility for healthcare? If mandated, at what minimum coverage? Bills floated this year here in Delaware mandate fertility treatment in any employer sponsored plan. What next? At what cost?

Give me a market solution any time. I don’t want the government telling me what to do on healthcare.

    I have an HSA. It works and costs my family less than $500 per month for BCBS doctors and pharmacies. Fewer mandates would make that even cheaper. If you don’t think that is cheap, check with your employer to see how much they are paying. And talk about cost control… I pay the bills. You can bet I don’t get frivolous stuff done. {dismounts soapbox}

BTW: Rudy might not have many ideas, but we might just need his leadership qualities before 4 years is up.

HSAs work for me, and I am my employer.

“Give me a market solution any time. I don’t want the government telling me what to do on healthcare.”

Romney’s Mass plan is a market-based solution. The only government intervention in the requirement that everyone get a health care plan and that no one gets a free ride. If you can’t afford it, the state helps pay. Romney’s plan saved the state money and resulted in fewer government employees.

  13. Alan Coffey says:

Read about RomneyCare in the WSJ this morning. Sure looks a lot like government planning. Granted, they are not the providers, but they set the minimums by mandating State Approved plans are the only ones that count.

Not bad, but not perfect either. They were lucky to avoid the “no lifetime limits” the union rep wanted in. She was dead set for it until it was pointed out that her union plan had lifetime limits too!

Gotta admit, it is better than I thought.
