I hereby challenge Michael Castle to a debate

Filed in National by on April 28, 2007

Mike Castle says:

“…the final decision on when to leave Iraq must be left up to military commanders.”

I say we have a formal Oxford University style debate to determine if that is a true/valid statement. I will argue that he is talking out of his ass (yet again). I will bring The Constitution, the US Army’s Authorizing Legislation, the US Navy’s Authorizing Legislation, the US Air Force’s Authorizing Legislation, and a few hundred American History and Civics texts all of which refute his assertion that the military is in control of the civilian government.

Castle will bring…I don’t know, his “magic ass” I guess, which will prove that lowly citizens & and constituents have no voice, but must acquiesce to our military leadership.

Come on Mike. You name the place and the time. Let’s settle this man to man. You and you’re magic ass quips should be able to mop the floor with me and my stupid old laws.

Wenky has my contact info.

That quote pairs up nicely with this one:

“I want to just go about doing my job without worrying about the political repercussions of an election.” – Michael Castle

  2. jason330 says:

Yep. I don’t think Castle is as smart as Al Mascitti thinks he is.

Inane quote after inane quote expose him as a kind of Chauncey Gardner of Delaware politics.

  3. anon says:

Castle explains his pro-Bush voting record: It’s Tom DeLay’s fault!

…”With Republicans in control, especially when Tom DeLay was around, there was a lot of pressure,” Castle recalled, referring to the former House majority leader. “This year, there’s a lot less pressure. The sense is, we didn’t do well in the election. Maybe we ought to let independent members vote their conscience.” link

  4. jason330 says:

Poor guy. Couldn’t take the pressure and decided to vote contrary to his conscience. That kind of thing is bad for your health.

A proper answer to “Mike Castle says:”

“…the final decision on when to leave Iraq must be left up to military commanders.”

On this issue we agree. So why is Cheney still allowed to contradict, diminish, and overrule the best advice our military offers us when they themselves say get out, get out now.

Could it be because of …………….. Halliburton?

subtle sources: “State of Denial” Bob Woodward

“Senate Confirmation Hearings of Gen. Petraeus”

  6. jason330 says:

    Kavips,

I think you agree that the military commanders input should be considered – but not that the military has decision making authority.

I agree that the military commanders who said that we’d need 300,000 troops to occupy and secure Iraq should have been given some consideration.

Catsle pulling a little Pontius Pilot routine and saying that it is not his job to get involved in the question of when to exit Iraq. That is clearly bullshit.

BTW – I cross posted this by sending it to the Delaware State News “Soundoff” so Wenk et al will not be able to deny knowing about the challenge.
