This is what happens when the Congress goes to sleep on the job. Of course, you can’t exercise due diligence when you only work two days a week, some weeks. Every GOP congress critter is responsible for this, including Delaware’s beloved Mike Castle. Unfortunately, you don’t go to jail for violation of the Hatch act but you can be fired. The administrators need to be fired forthwith and the voters need to fire the remaining GOOPers in Congress in 2008.

Thanks for posting this, I missed it on CSpan today. I spent the day finishing my taxes. That money is going to pay for the Rethugs campaign in 2008. Ya gotta know my hair is on fire right now.

So what? Democrats don’t do this (or wouldn’t, if they could get organized)?

  3. anon says:

No, Democrats would not do this.

Here we go again. A democrat once broke the law so every instance of Republican law breaking is excused.

What ever happened to the party of personal responsibility? (sigh)

For more information and background, have a look at the Congressional Research Service memo Meetings, Conferences as “Political Activities” in a Federal Office, and “Hatch Act” Considerations . Hacve a look at the PDF version of teh full document. It’s fairly legalistic, but the conclusions are most interesting.
