Re: Freedom of Information Act Request

Dear Ms. Lighton:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I request that a copy ofdocuments containing the following information be provided to me:

Communication between the GSA and the Congressional offices of Michael Castle (R-DE) related to GSA projects, investments and activities in Delaware from January 1 2005 through November 31st 2006.

In order to help to determine my status to assess fees, you should know that I am a representative of the news media and this request is made as part of a news gathering and not for commercial use. I request a waiver of all fees for this request. Disclosure of the requested information to me is in the public interest because it is likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of the relative openness and legitimacy of operations or activities of the government and is not primarily in my commercial interest.

Thank you for your consideration of my request.
Dr. Nick Riviera

Do you remember the big dog and pony show that Mike Castle put on prior to the election announcing the plans for the C&D canal recreation area? (Press Release Link)

Remember how the $1.7 million for the project appeared in the election year (as if by magic).

Now it has come to light that George Bush used the GSA and election year events like the canal project to promote Bush’s brand of Republicanism in direct violation of the Hatch act. Was Michael Castle in on the scheme? Communications between his office and the GSA prior to the event would go a long way toward answering that question.

While the Hatch act attempts to keep politics out of the day to day operations of the government – Bush and Castle may have violated its provisions and scheduled the C&D canal event as a part of a coordinated and illegal effort by the GOP to rally support. If so, the people of Delaware deserve the know truth.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Del Dot. What does the GSA have to do with the canal?

  4. doctornick says:

The GSA, Bush and Castle were all (I’m fairly sure) part of a criminal enterprise to use the US goverment and your tax dollars to advance the goals of the Republican party.

That explains Castle’s voting record over the past few years, but finding out how the gears mesh is what the FOIA request is all about. The canal event predated the GSA’s admission that they were out to help Republicans – but it did not predate the establishiment of the ongoing criminal enterprise.

I don’t have to see it to know it is real.
