Atkins may be Expelled

Filed in Uncategorized by on March 23, 2007

The really good blogger, Celia Cohen, has a post up now detailing the terrible toll that the Adkins scandal is taking on the Reps on both sides of the aisle.  There doesn’t seem to be enough votes to support the censure resolution.  One of my sources told me that there are a lot of threats flying around Leg Hall about JA and Charlie Oberle suing the State if Johnnie boy gets expelled.  So forget the bloodletting of other legislators, Atkins may cost the taxpayers a bundle just in legal fees defending the Reps that expel him.  I am willing to pay that price, how ’bout you?

    Celia blogged:

Beyond being upset and frustrated, representatives say they are exhausted, sleepless and drained by talking about nothing else. They say they are embarrassed, too.

Can we get some webcams in there please? this sounds way better than the latest crop of reality TV shows.

In the words of Simpsons’ Comic Book guy, “Worst lawsuit ever.”

I don’t see where Atkins has a leg to stand on if the censure vote fails and instead they pass a measure to expel him. The lying under oath (in the form of a false affidavit) is the smoking gun. The perjury makes this cut and dry.

    This was my favorite part.

A bipartisan core of representatives is working behind the scenes to drum up the votes to expel him. It would take a two-thirds majority — 28 out of the 41 House members — for expulsion. The group appears to be anywhere from five votes to two votes away.

That is some good blogging from one of Delaware’s leading bloggers.

  4. It made for a long day in Dover on Thursday, the last of the three-day legislative week, and an historic one. Lawyers who researched the record could find no precedent for a disciplinary matter coming to the floor. In a flurry of ethics cases in the 1980s, two in the Senate and two in the House, all were short-circuited when the legislators resigned.

this is my favorite quote. Never in our history have we had a member of such horrid charactor that he will not even step out of the way for constituent nor party’s sake.

The man has lied under oath….hello. Expel him.
No pension for you, you bum.

Nancy, the man lied but many legislators D’s & R’ have boned us for years catering to special interest voting their wallet not for us.

How many times has a legislators be caught DUI ? We’ll never know because the were let go ! Those Legislators’ vanity tags, do they not resent the same the same ID card that was in Atkins Wallet ? If he was in his car with his vanity tags, he “may” have been stop but would have never been given a DUI Test.

He us the Rat that got caught if we nail him to the cross are we doing it because of his actions or because we finally caught a Rat !

“So forget the bloodletting of other legislators, Atkins may cost the taxpayers a bundle just in legal fees defending the Reps that expel him. I am willing to pay that price, how ’bout you?”

I rather see the lid blown on all the Rats and the Queen Rat, wow would be a extra treat!
IF Charlie O brings it in the courts shit would hit the fan with all the subpoenas handed out to legislators.

?? If Atkins stays will he run for reelection? Could he win ? Yea, Kilroy is a Republican and the odds of a Republican winning that seat back are near null !

This incident has put even legislators on notice, the free ride is over ! Strange as it may sound , if we need to elected a Register of the Will and Deed why in the hell can’t we elect the Commander of the State Police.

All this is certainly my opinion and life will go on either way but it’s time for real change in Dover and we need to get the lobbyist out of Legislator Hall

I want to know what the dirt is that he’s been threatening to spill if he gets booted. Let’s get it allllllllllllllllllllllllll out!!! What transgressions of the legislative body does he have knowledge of? Expel the SOB so we can find out. Perhaps he’s just blowin’ smoke. Maybe, but let’s put it to the test! I truly believe the people of the 41st deserve better and the legislative body needs to do the right thing here. Let’s get it done folks, show some class that we the people know you have!

Al, I am sure there is a code of silence among the legislators. No doubt he has been to other parties and events with other legislators. No doubt he has been in conversation, overheard conversations and witness questionable events with his own eyes. Those vanity tags are not parking permits, they are free passes. I say take them from all legislators

“ Let’s get it allllllllllllllllllllllllll out!!!” Would be a great event and Soprano’s might have to delay the next season. They is no they’ll expel him! If the 41st deserves better “they” need to demand it. Also , when 2008 rolls around they need to make the choice.

Is Atkins the only dirty spot on the pure holy cloth ?

  8. uh, now that the House Ethics Committee is baaccckkkkkkkkk lets use the hell out of it.
First by insisting that they allow investigations to be instigated by the public.
Maybe a threshold of evidence has to be presented to trigger action, but the present system is member-only and we know that will not work with the DE Awy.
Hell. They had to get atkins himself to instigate his own investigation because no one wants to go on record.

We have a virtual one party “system” in Dover
and that “dick” has a hell of a Big Head.

Speaking of $$$$, the fiscal note on Wayne Smith’s departure and subsequent special election is at least $30,000…WTF?

No one seems to want to hold him accountable for that.

  10. Hube says:

Oh, we’re sure YOU will, Nance! At least THIS is slightly a legitimate beef (a miracle for you), but how would you hold him “accountable”? Make him write out a check? Based on what rule/law?

To hell w/the best thing for him and his family when an awesome opportunity popped up for him, eh?
